As the seasons change, so do the needs of our environment, mind and bodies.
Preparing for the turn of season is essential to ensure that we are physically and mentally ready to face the challenges and enjoy the opportunities that come with the new season.
Here at Sister & Soul, we look forward to every new season and love to really enjoy the transition of each.
However, when the hot Australian summer slips into Autumn providing a little relief from the heat and a chance to slip on a cute jumper, we become inspired to do these 3 things in preparation for the cooler months.
One of the first things to do when preparing for the turn of season is to evaluate your wardrobe. As the weather changes, you will need to start wearing different types of clothes to stay comfortable and we all know last year's pieces may not suit. This means packing away summer clothes and pulling out something warmer, buying a new pair of boots, or shopping for a snuggly hoodie to sustain you throughout winter.
This can also be a good opportunity to donate clothes that you no longer wear or need. We know this process can be emotional if we have gained weight or what was once treasured has lost its shape, but it's ok, life is about letting go and learning to love every season.
As the weather changes, so does the condition of our skin. Cold weather can lead to dryness and cracking, while warmer weather can lead to oiliness and breakouts. To ensure that your skin stays healthy and glowing, it is important to adjust your skincare routine accordingly. This may include using heavier moisturisers, switching to oil-based cleansers, or adding a facial oil to your routine.
We love shopping for new products. There's nothing like the joy in finding new scents, textures and a beautifully designed pot, bottle or tube. It sounds a little crazy, but it's important to enjoy the little things and gathering skincare products that make us feel clean and invigorated is one way we do it.
The turn of season is a great time to update your home to create a comfortable environment. This may include changing your bedding, adding blankets and throws, or swapping out curtains for thicker, warmer options.
You can also add seasonal decor, such as fall wreaths or winter-themed pillows, to create a cosy atmosphere. If it's getting hotter where you are, consider stripping things back. Replace heavy blankets for lighter ones, add some colour to your decor or get busy refreshing your flower pots with new blooms.
And so sister, the new season is just around the corner. We say, wherever you are in the world, make the best of it!
Enjoy preparing for it because no season is to be begrudged. There are beautiful things found in every juncture if only we look and be grateful.
