EVERYDAY HEROES
We all have women in our world that inspire us, you know, those girls that keep on going and giving even in the most challenging times. These women live both in the city and the country, they are single and married, they are mothers, sisters, wives and girlfriends. Some work a trade while others rock the corporate office. They are teachers, careers, leaders, politicians and creatives. Young and old, these women are found in every sphere of life. Yep, women do tough stuff and none more so than those battling for their lives. They are cancer fighters.
Here at Sister & Soul, we receive feedback from many warrior women facing the scariest of diagnosis, we are honoured to be able to connect with them and hear their stories. They tell of their battle with the big C and how every bit of encouragement helps them feel loved and supported, how a small word on a bracelet or necklace that says ‘courage’ ‘brave’ ‘strength’ ‘beautiful’ or ‘you got this’ reminds them that they have what it takes to keep on fighting. It is a little ‘pop of light’ on a dark journey. It is a hug for the heart, we are humbled and inspired by these beautiful brave women.
THE FACTS
Not one of us are comfortable with the facts about cancer. The facts suck. The facts are unfair and irrespective. Facts like, the estimated number of deaths from breast cancer in 2019 in Australia is 3,090. Facts like, 3 in 10 women diagnosed with breast cancer will be under forty. Facts like, women have a 1 in 8 chance of getting breast cancer in their lifetime. Shocking! Awful! Unacceptable!
What do we do with these facts? One can feel utterly powerless. Well, sweetheart, that is a lie. We are not powerless. We can help to change the facts. You can be one of many millions who got completely cheesed-off with the facts and decided to do something. Sure, that something seems like nothing; or at the very most, ridiculously small, but we must not let our doubts stop us from contributing. We can change the world. We can win the war on cancer.
SISTER, WE GOT YA BACK
And so, in light of the many testimonies we receive and our rather ugly reaction to the facts about cancer, we felt compelled to do something more than just be appalled. That something more is ‘The Pink Collection.’ Yep, we have gone all out, as pink as possible. We wanted to host a parade of pink, make a spectacle of sorts, so we got bee’s and butterflies, florals and of course leopard print and we threw them on earrings, necklaces, keyrings and bracelets so you can pink out from the waist up with words that will uplift your soul. But the best thing is that $1 from every ‘Pink’ collection’ product sold will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF)who’s amazing research is making a difference we want to support their goal of zero deaths from breast cancer by 2030. So get on it girls, grab a gorgeous piece of pink and let’s fight together. Give the gift of pink and cheer your gal pals on!
